What’s Involved in Being a Trustee at AMEND?
Our Trustee Board oversees AMEND’s operations and sets the charity’s strategy. Much like in the same way that School Governors operate, our Trustees are the charity’s ‘critical friends’.
AMEND’s Board of Trustees (Directors) includes a majority of patients, as well as healthcare professionals and other interested parties with specific qualifications such as finance or IT. It is the Board’s responsibility to set the organisation’s strategy and to ensure that the charity operates in compliance with the laws of the United Kingdom.
We hold 2 meetings per year (March and October) and travel costs are reimbursed. Other tasks may be undertaken via email or Zoom.

Current Vacancies
Treasurer
Our amazing Treasurer, Catherine Hamilton-Woodthorpe, is having to step down shortly due to other work commitments. This means that there will be a vacancy for this Executive Trustee position. Catherine has offered to stay on until the position is filled, and to help the new Treasurer settle in, to allow as seamless a transition as possible. If you have a background in accountancy, or know someone who does, and are potentially interested in getting involved at this level to help our small but essential charity, then please do review the job specification. In addition to general Trustee duties, the Treasurer role requires an excellent working knowledge of Xero accounting software, 2-3 visits to our Kent office per year, and 2 Trustee Board Meetings per year held on a Saturday. The Treasurer will oversee the compilation of our annual accounts and monthly finance reports, presenting them at the AGM and Finance Committee / Trustee Board meetings respectively. This is one of the most important volunteer roles at AMEND, so if you feel you could do it justice, then please do get in touch as soon as possible.
