• Volunteering

AMEND values all our volunteers enormously and provides training and resources wherever possible, as well as present an annual Volunteer of the Year Award. There are lots of opportunities to get involved with AMEND, some of which are listed below. If you have specific skills which you think we may find useful in any way, please do just let us know!

    • Trustees
    • Website & IT Committee members (help us maintain and develop our web and social media presence, and oversee our office computing systems and our IT disaster recovery plan)
    • Student Work Experience Placements / Internships

Please contact Jo Grey to discuss any of these opportunities.

  • What’s involved?

Our Trustee Board oversees AMEND’s operations and sets the charity’s strategy. For more information see the ‘How we are governed’ tab on our homepage.

The work of AMEND in the UK is divided between several Trustee-led committees with differing responsibilities. Meetings are usually held by free Skype conference call in order to involve our international volunteers. We are always keen to hear from anyone who might be able to lend their expertise to the following committees:

    Programmes Committee
This Committee is split into 2 subcommittees: Research & Development, and Patient Support & Information. Between them this group of Trustees and volunteers is responsible for AMEND’s support services (e.g. Counselling) and production of patient information resources, as well as the AMEND Research Awards and International Development. This Committee is also responsible for developing the charity’s new programmes, and monitoring existing ones.

Website, Social Media and Information Technology Committee
This Committee is responsible for maintaining AMEND’s online presence and addressing all of the charity’s IT needs. The website and social media are vital to AMEND’s communication channels with patients around the world.

The Trustees of AMEND also work on other Committees, such as Governance, Remuneration and Finance, and assist with advising patient new groups on their route to independence.

    • Board Directors
    • Legal Advisor
    • Finance Advisor

Please contact Jason Keller to discuss any of these opportunities.
