AMEND awarded Big Lottery Fund grant
We are delighted to report that AMEND has received a grant from the Big Lottery Fund Awards for All programme to help set up a Regional Support Volunteer service in the UK. These volunteers, who will receive training from AMEND, will help provide peer support at a more local level by being a local point of contact for newly diagnosed or concerned members of AMEND, organising informal patient meetings and occasional representation at specialist centre outpatient clinics where possible.
We are now looking for prospective Regional Support Volunteers. These roles call for people who have;
- the ability to empathise
- a desire to learn about diseases other than their own / their loved one’s (although we don’t expect anyone to become an expert!)
- time to devote to the role (approx. 7 days per year including weekdays and weekends)
- a desire to learn more about patient support.
If this is you and you’d like to learn more, please contact Jo Grey as soon as possible!
