$8.5 MILLION FOR MEN2 MTC RESEARCH

On July 30th 2008, the American Cancer Society announced that it had received a gift of $8.5 million from a single annonymous donor.  The gift is to be targeted at establishing a MEN2 Thyroid Cancer Consortium comprising 12 outstanding young scientists, whose aim will be to undertake research in order to better understand the origins of MEN2 and thereby help in the fight against medullary thyroid cancer.  The American Cancer Society expects this group to be in place by July 2009.  More information may be found at www.cancer.org.
